Bangladesh has been the most important strategical outpost for China in countering India in South Asia. The country is situated near the Siliguri corridor, also known as chicken Neck of India, which is the only way to access the north-eaten states. China is eager to control the region for disconnecting the network between India and its north-eastern states. For competing with the world, Bangladesh is growing its infrastructure, economy, resource and has started many projects in which China has invested heavily and wants to trap Bangladesh in its debt trap likewise other countries-Maldives, Bhutan, and Nepal, the most recent is the example of Sri Lanka.
In return when the countries are not able to pay their debts, China captures and control their land specifically their ports like the Hambantota port(Sri Lanka). In case of Bangladesh there are many projects in which China has taken control in manufacturing. By taking the full responsibility of the task China influences the country like Bangladesh. The only motive of China is to come near the Indian territory and to create its dominance in South Asia.
There are some projects of Bangladesh in which China has invested:
- Padma Bridge (Connects North-South of Bangladesh)
- Coal-Fired power plant (Pyra by China National Machinery Import and Export Cooperation)
- Dhaka mass rapid transit line-6 (Metro Rail)
